Symposium
A co-design approach
Building on the success of Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network in Indonesia and Vietnam, an exciting opportunity exists to revolutionise plastic waste in the Mekong region.
Stakeholders across all sustainability sectors are invited to join this upcoming symposium, a critical workshop that will shape the future direction of the Mekong Plastics Innovation Hub.
We know success is only possible through a collaborative and collective approach. That’s why we want to work together to prioritise the sector’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.
By actively co-designing the blueprint for the Mekong Plastics Innovation Hub, the symposium allows you to:
- Influence meaningful change
- Showcase your work in ending plastic waste
- Hear from inspirational change makers
- Build connections with the wider plastics community
About the Symposium
The Symposium is a two-day virtual event (8-9 November 2022) bringing together key stakeholders across government, industry, startups, NGOs, investors, researchers, and innovators working across the Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos plastics ecosystems. During the event, participants will be placed into small, specialised teams to work together to
- Prioritise the problem areas in the plastics life cycle where innovation is most required and can have the most impact
- Pinpoint alignment between stakeholder needs/interests and the Hub’s priority problem areas
- Identify the right incentives to rally support from key stakeholders
- Consider potential activities that will enable inclusive, transparent and scalable collaboration
We will engage translators so that communications can be delivered on various languages (Thai, Khmer and Lao).
Day 1 – Share & Collaborate (2 hours)
Tuesday 8th November 2022
10:30 am to 12:30 pm ICT | 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm AEDT
With so many across the Mekong already working in this space, our first step will be to hear your learnings and experiences working in the plastics landscape.
Through intimate, breakout sessions your voice will be critical in understanding:
- How can the hub amplify your work?
- What are the gaps & what is needed for a more holistic plastics framework?
- Context-specific nuances across Thailand, Cambodia and Laos
- Your vision and desired outcomes
We will also share with you key insights developed by the Hub based on initial stakeholder engagement.
Day 2 – Learn & Reflect (1 hour)
Wednesday 9th November 2022
11:00am to 12:00pm ICT | 3:00pm to 4:00 pm AEDT
During the second day of the Symposium, building on day one, we will collectively shape the blueprint of the Hub by exploring the following:
- Reflect on cross-country themes and opportunities
- Establish incentives for collaboration across the broader Mekong region
- Develop next steps and priority areas
Across both days of the Symposium, participants will hear from inspirational guest speakers and learn more about the Hub’s activities in the broader Indo-Pacific.
